Rakuten: $30 Referral Bonus Promo (Easy Money)

I’m a big fan of free/easy money promotions, as I’m sure you are too, and this is a good one from the Rakuten shopping portal for a limited time (limited time offer).

Rakuten (formerly “Ebates”), is offering a $30 welcome bonus to new users who join and then make $30+ in purchases by using the Rakuten site/app/extension to initiate a purchase at any of the thousands of retailers Rakuten partners with (e.g. eBay, Target, Walmart, Lowe’s, etc.). This is one of the largest welcome bonus offers I have seen from Rakuten (it’s typically $10 or $20).

To get the $30 welcome bonus, simply:

  1. Become a new member (for free) using this Rakuten referral link.
  2. Start at Rakuten and find the retailer(s) you were going to make purchases from anyways (purchases must total $30+ within 90 days of becoming a member), and click the referral links at Rakuten to go to the retailer’s site to make a purchase.

After making the $30+ in purchases, you’ll get the welcome bonus deposited into your account. You can then withdraw/transfer the bonus (I opted for the check option, but you can also opt for payment by PayPal).

Extra bonus right now: the welcome bonus is stacked on top of any other promotions you find through the site. A number of retailers come with significant cash back rewards, such as 5%, 10% or more, in addition to other discount/promo codes. So, you can get your welcome bonus, and then get an additional cash back bonus for a purchase you were planning to make anyways.

How can Rakuten afford to do this? They have advertising agreements with these retailers and get a small commission from the retailer for any purchases that were referred from Rakuten.

Disclosure: I don’t have any advertising or other relationship with Rakuten, I’m simply a user who wanted to pass along this promo to my readers! If you take advantage of the offer, I may be eligible for a member referral bonus. Enjoy!
