Groupon is offering a bonus $40 Costco Digital Shop Card deal on new annual “Gold Star” Costco memberships (which currently cost $60) or “Executive” membership (which currently costs $120). This could help ease the burden of the Costco membership price increase on 9/1/24. Additionally, those who sign up for the $120 Executive membership are eligible for a promo code for $60 off a Costco.com order of $200 or more.
These offers are available to those who have not yet had Costco membership or their membership expired 18+ months ago (not member renewals). Costco almost never offers membership discount promotions or deals like this – so this is an excellent offer if you’re eligible. I have seen similar $30 Shop Card bonus offers for limited periods of time in the past on Groupon, but a $40 bonus beats that and the $60 discount is new. Read on for more details on eligibility and where to get this Costco membership deal offer.

After clicking “Shop Now” on the offer page, members must use the promo code “CJGPNMBR” on Costco’s site to receive the bonuses.
With these offers, you’d be buying a standard Costco “Gold Star” membership for the regular rate of $60/year or the “Executive” membership for the regular rate of $120/year and would get a $40 Costco Digital Shop Card as a bonus. The Costco Digital Shop Card (basically a gift card) is valid as a form of payment at Costco locations and Costco.com (excluding Costco gas stations, food court kiosks, and car washes).
Those who opt for the Executive membership are eligible for a promo code for $60 off a Costco.com order of $200 or more.
To receive the Digital Costco Shop Card, you must provide a valid email address and set up auto renewal of your Costco membership on a Visa card at the time of sign-up. If you elect not to enroll in auto renewal at the time of sign-up, incentives will not be emailed.
I’ve been a Costco member for close to 2 decades now and have found excellent value in my membership. There are ways to shop at Costco without a membership, but it’s probably not worth the hassle. Costco’s gas prices (typically 10% lower than elsewhere) alone are worth the cost of membership, and there are a lot of great value from their high-quality store-brand products, including Kirkland Signature alcohol and Kirkland Signature dog and cat food – among others. And, if you’re not happy with your membership – you can get a Costco membership fee refund at any time.
For some of the reasons mentioned above, I tend to prefer Costco versus Sam’s Club. If you’re more of a Sam’s Club person, I’ll also highlight any Sam’s Club membership offers and BJ’s Wholesale Club offers that come up as well.
This Costco membership deal sounds like a great opportunity, especially with the bonus Digital Shop Card and the promo code for Executive members. I’m curious though, for someone who’s debating between the Gold Star and Executive membership, what factors should they consider in deciding which option offers the most value for their needs? Are the additional benefits of the Executive membership truly worth the higher price in the long run
