Whether you want to cut your auto insurance costs because your budget has gotten tighter or because you don't want to spend extra money for what you don't need, there are some smart and some not-so-smart strategies to reduce this household expense. It's true that you will save money on your auto insurance premium if you raise your deductible. But it's not a good idea to raise your deductible if you don't have easy access to the money to cover the deductible in the event of a claim. Save the money to cover the higher deductible and put it in a separate savings account that you don't touch except for that purpose. Once the money is put aside, then go ahead and make the change to your coverage. Click here for more information.

The area of the city where you live, the make / model / year of car, what are the options you have stereo / rims / tires / wheels, turbo or sport in your description of your car Engine, have poor grades at school, get tickets. When you do the opposite of that, you get lower rates, shop around a lot, will vary game.

This is a great article to point out necessity of auto insurance, no matter most of us hate to pay it. I understand its requirements and bindings. However I think this report has given excellent details to show various types discounts one can avail.

Actually the first factor you mentioned (ego) has been really the biggest factor I have experienced with many different individuals as well who have tried to find the best ways to achieve lower auto insurance payments. In many instances, they are all looking to purchase high end cars and then baulk at the payments that those cars usually command. Automobiles are simply just modes of transport to get me from one place to another and I'd rather get a simple efficient model that's cheaper maintenance-wise and insurance-wise.

a discount i got from State Farm, was getting my renters (now condo) insurance through them as well.

Get this: At first with my new car, my monthly insurance was $90 a month. Renters was $8 a month, but i got a 10% discount off my car insurance if i had both... so by getting renters insurance, i actually SAVED a dollar a month. HA!
